「フィリップス」を振り返るーオメガのオークション史上最高額を更新

フィリップス/ THE GENEVA WATCH AUCTION: SIX　日時：2017年11月11ー12日

　厳しい目利きの人々を満足させたフィリップスの今シーズンの時計は、パテックフィリップのピンクゴールドケース Ref.2499「サードシリーズ」（277万2500スイスフラン）と、同じくピンクゴールドケースのパテックフィリップ Ref.2597（54万500スイスフラン）のふたつであった。それらは事実通り「ミント品」と説明され、それぞれのレファレンスナンバーの模範となるような時計である。
　同時に販売された、非常にレアなホワイトゴールドのパテックフィリップ（同ブランドのうち最もよく知られる3モデルのうちのひとつ）のRef.2497は229万2500スイスフランで販売された。コンディションとしては中級で、ケースがわずかに磨かれ、文字盤には手が入っていた。しかしながら最も懸念される点は、この時計にブレスレットが付いていたということだ。恐らくブレスレットはもともと時計にはんだ付けされていた。時計の観点において、バイヤーは一体型のブレスレットを嫌うため、おそらくより「売りやすい」ように、誰かが「取り外し可能」にするためにブレスレット部分をカットしたのだろう。私はこの点がバイヤーたちに対して、コンディションレポートの中で伝えられるか、述べられていたのかを非常に疑っている。
　イエローゴールドのパテックフィリップRef.1518は、同モデルの最高額である55万2500スイスフランで売れた。完璧とはいえないが、この時計はあるべき姿のものであった。ケースはオリジナルの外形をほぼ保っており、文字盤にはシミや傷がついていたが、まったく修復されていなかった。
　非常にレアなピンクゴールドのロレックスRef.6062は、売れるべき価格の半額である67万2500スイスフランで販売された。文字盤が（ピンクというよりは）イエローのインデックスで、蛍光塗料のドットはなかった。
　イエローゴールドのケースは良いものだが、文字盤に手が入れられたパテックフィリップRef.2523/1は、121万2500スイスフランで販売された。
　このオークションで驚いたのは、1947年のSSケースのオメガ「プロトタイプトゥールビヨンクロノメーター」である。オメガが作った最初のトゥールビヨンであるが、なんと142万8500スイスフランで販売され、オメガのオークション史上で最高額となった。オメガミュージアムが購入したと聞くと、さらに驚愕せざるをえない。
　現代のパテックフィリップの時計は、本当に珍しくユニークな文字盤であるにも関わらず、概してソフトな価格がついた。
　エリック・クラプトンのために作られた特別な文字盤の、ピンクゴールドケースのRef.3970は36万6500スイスフランで、そしてプラチナケースと、ブレゲ数字を持つブラック文字盤のRef.5020は、49万2500スイスフランで販売された。

Two watches from Phillips this season that satisfy the most stringent standards for the connoisseur were the Patek Philippe pink gold ref. 2499 third series (CHF 2,772,500) and the Patek Philippe pink gold ref. 2597 (CHF 540,500). They can truly be described as “mint” and are among the best examples of the two important references. A very rare Patek Philippe ref. 2497 in white gold (one of three known examples) from the same sale went for CHF 2,292,500. The watch is middling in condition given its slightly polished case and cleaned dial, however the most concerning aspect of this watch is the bracelet - likely the bracelet was originally soldered to the watch. At some point of the watch’s life, someone decided to cut off the bracelet to make it “removable,” hence probably more “marketable” due to some buyers’ dislike for integrated bracelets. I very much doubt this was ever communicated to potential buyers or stated in the condition report. A yellow gold Patek Philippe ref. 1518 sold for CHF 552,500, towards the upper end of current price range for a yellow gold 1518. This example, while not perfect, is honest: the case retains much of its original contours and the dial, though spotted and scratched, is completely unrestored. A very rare pink gold Rolex ref. 6062 sold for CHF 672,500, about half of what it should have fetched had it been correct: not only does the dial have yellow (rather than pink) indexes, it does not have lumen dots. A yellow gold Patek Philippe ref. 2523/1 with strong case but cleaned dial sold for CHF 1,212,500. The surprise of this auction was a steel Omega prototype tourbillon chronometer from 1947, the first tourbillon wristwatch made by the brand, selling for an astounding CHF 1,428,500, making it the most expensive Omega timepiece ever sold at auction. One must wonder if it was purchased by the Omega Museum. Modern Patek Philippe watches were generally still soft in prices, unless it has a unique dial or is truly rare, such as a special dial pink gold ref. 3970 made for Eric Clapton (CHF 366,500) and a platinum ref. 5020 with Breguet numerals black dial (CHF 492,500).
